New to forums/spearfishing.

Hello everyone one! I am new to the forum and to spearfishing. After doing some spearfishing in Hawaii I had to get into it here when I got back. I am a certified diver and also am interested into doing freediving in the future. I would like to meet some people that might be able to teach me a thing or two, or meet some other people that are trying to get into the sport also. I have all my gear for diving and also have picked up some used starter guns and have been practicing my aim on suckers in the rivers but yet to hit the coast because I currently have no dive buddies. I have really enjoyed everyone posts and information on this site, it very helpful and can't wait to learn more.

Careful Keppler, I'm hoping those suckers aren't going to stick to you the way bullheads have stuck to me!

Re: New to forums/spearfishing.

Spearfishing suckers is a fav secret pastime for a lot of Oregon spear-fishermen, thus we cant really give keppler a hard time for it. Spearing a pile of Rhino Sculpin with a 15 foot long euro gun on the other hand, now that's means for eternal ribbing.

Re: New to forums/spearfishing.

So are we calling them "Rhino Sculpin?" Sounds a little sexier than "bullhead" but I'm kind of attached to it...

we cant really continue to use "bullhead' when we move to freshwater. ODFW would be breathing down our necks. yes, rhino sculpins sounds sexier, but at the end of the day, its still a fish that we consider junk not to worry. i eat them too...

Re: New to forums/spearfishing.

Just one sculpin session doesn't qualify me as "Extraordinaire" yet...

Not specific enough. Cabezon is in the sculpin family too. How about: "Junk Eating Sculpin Slayer Extraordinaire"? We can call him "JESSE" for short?
