Marathon Diving and 7 Mile Lobstering

Thanks to everyone that made recommendations. We have been here a week and a half and everything has been great. We limited out both days before noon. Here is a video of us diving 7 Mile Bridge. No editing, so its long. Feel free to jump around.

Spearfishing and fishing has been good out here as well

Would you think that even in late August the 7 mile bridge would hold a decent amount of lobster?

They were running around 650' depth. Trolling around 16-18 miles out of Key Collany.

We got another limit on the 7 Mile today. I think it will hold some at the end of the summer. It may be harder to get since all the commercial guys are out in full force with their traps, but they should be there.

For sure, we have had a great time!! Not sure if we will come here again or back to the lower keys next year. We can get a house for a month what it cost us 2 weeks here in Marathon. It has been a great time and we leave on Saturday

Did you post a video of yourself taking more than 6 lobsters?

Sweet, thanks. I've only done lobstering once down there, and it was a little spot in 8 feet of water on the Gulf side near Channel Key.

I surfaced with 6 legal sized bugs in my bag. I alway pick up a couple extra while I am diving, and then recheck them before I go up to make sure all are legal and no eggs. The smallest ones are released if I have more than limit.

I learned my lesson a long time ago about screwing around in the keys. FWC don't play around down there!

Don't let FWC catch you underwater with more than your limit in your possession. That's a no-no.

The FWC officer I asked about this a few years ago told me that it was fine to do it this way. He told me that bugs were considered possession once you leave the water and they understand that someone may have an accidental short while diving, but make sure you dont exit the water with one.
