I think I was swimming up and realizing that I was only about 30M deep and so was basically home, and I was also getting a sniff back from my mask EQ so I think I might have slowed down to enjoy it.

Only 30 m.. I've almost made it that deep. Looks very strange to me. Looks like the ascent rate was close to zero for about 10 seconds..

It just looks that way since there is no reference. I'm sure he moved at least 6 meters in that 10 second period.

Sweet dive man.

Re: Video of 72M (236') no fins dive

Thanks!

Yes, I am always moving up and there is no frame of reference. The lines are marked, I think that one was marked every 10M but the marks are hard to see in the video, and even that can be deceiving since the lines do bounce a little in the swell. As the diver I'm not too hung up watching progress on the line, I'm just focused on swimming and I know that if I keep swimming I'll get to the top, and if anything goes wrong I trust the safeties to keep me out of harm's way.

Not sure exactly what my ascent rate was but I try to keep it relatively constant although my swim pace and power output changes as I get 'lighter' on the ascent.

Thanks, I figured out my error. I was looking at the clip sliding up the rope as stationary. Thanks for being patient with stupid questions.
