I agree with the SCOTUS on this. I see a law prohibiting such as being foolish regardless of how much of a douche that guy was.
If the liar caused physical or monetary harm/gain by lying then that can be handled in a civil suit. We don't need to be screwing with our free speech rights.

As much as I am against lying about something like this... you can't make it illegal for someone to be a complete and total douche bag... I can only imagine how many court cases there would be if lying were a crime.

The guy is a total tool... he should probably be fired, he should definitively be shunned by anyone that knows him... but lying isn't a crime

Got to agree with that. I suppose there is nothing to prevent someone from exposing these frauds for what they are and making sure it gets publicized.

I agree.

If lying was against the law either the President or the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court would need to be jailed. They both can't be telling the truth about what is or isn't a tax.....................

What's the 9th circuit have to do with the Supreme Court striking down the Stolen Valor Act. You do know the difference between the two courts, right?

Lots of areas in the law in which "lying" can be criminally prosecuted. The Court just wont expand it to the Medal of Honor.

Re: Now I've won the Medal Of Honor (honest)

Sounds like the other bill being introduced may take care of someone getting gain from lying about such honors...otherwise i guess its NOT illegal to be a tool and lie to your peers...definately qualifies him for a beatdown though.
