Viz reports Sonoma/Mendo coast?

I'm planning to head to Sonoma or Mendo coast tomorrow and would appreciate some viz reports so I can choose my destination "wisely" since I have to be back in the bay area by mid afternoon.
Last Sunday the water was brown (ish) from Bodega to Sea ranch, not sure if the brown water cleared up or worse: made it to Mendo.
Thanks!

Re: Viz reports Sonoma/Mendo coast?

I dove Van Damme Tuesday evening and the bloom was forming. 3-4 foot vis in the shallows, 15 foot vis on the surface in deep water, started getting dark at 20, very dark at 40, 2-3 foot vis on the bottom. Looks like it's heading north so the further north you go the better and if you have a kayak or a boat it seems to be spotty so you can move a short distance and improve the conditions dramatically.

Re: Viz reports Sonoma/Mendo coast?

Its up to the wind this year, i dove on Thursday in the mendo area with a 3 ft swell but they where close together keeping the water stirred up. Vis was around 5 to 6 feet.

If you are diving in conditions like this and are looking for fish, start diving down to a couple of feet off the bottom and then lay out and move slowly.

Move around diving like this until you find fish, they will be blues, blacks or olives. It hard to find lings and other hole fish in these conditions.

There are huge blues around the mendo area, 16 to 17 inch schooles.
