Modified rail gun muzzles

We have had so much information and talk about upgrading tripper mechanisms and handles, carbon barrels, spear size, etc. All of it has been super educational for me and in practice has helped me fine tune my guns and better understand the nuts and bolts of an accurate speargun. Thanks so much. I feel like the next step would be modifying muzzles to personal taste. I have seen a few people have done. I would like to raise the bands on my pathos railgun to be more in line with the shaft. I saw a guy on youtube with a pathos open muzzle that had been filled in with epoxy just leaving a hole or tube for some spectra and then had individual single bands tied to it. That idea seems interesting, especially if it could be adapted to two bands. Or making a muzzle that had band elevators built into it. Meandros makes something of this nature but $90 for a muzzle seems way to high. Anyway any good ideas out there?

If you search around then you will see stacks of muzzles that try to align the bands with the spear shaft axis and keep the band run off the gun’s top deck, but the extant muzzles tend to be what is easy to produce and makes band changeover quick rather than wrestling bands out of a band alignment directing muzzle, e.g. biplane wing type muzzles and socket anchoring band systems working from vertical muzzle plates or horizontal side bars. This one even resembled a Dinosaur (once the bands were removed)!

Re: Modified rail gun muzzles

Thanks for posting that pic! Thats one crazy muzzle. I bet that was a bear to swing through the water. I have seen plenty of muzzles trying to accomplish the task, but most seem to add so much extra bulk. The one that seems most interest is the Meandros head X4 open, but it so stupid expensive. I was thinking it shouldnt be to hard to create someting that accomplishes the same task, or something similar, out of muzzle I already have. Or even creating a muzzle with a band attachment point similar to the newer C4 guns. It would be as low profile as possible but still bring the bands up inline at least somwhat better.

Re: Modified rail gun muzzles

I am going to try tinkering with one but I do not have much for fabrication skills. If I accomplish anything interesting I will post it.
