swimmingbird,

I gladly stand corrected on this matter!
And Apologize to any S.B member for my lack of D&D and misinformation concerning the take effect date on these MPAs. Thank-you for your time to post that link.
I don't know how I over looked that statement on that page.
So, I will also gladly hunt in these areas for 3 more months.

Thank-you

John

Schwing! I also thought they were closed as of January 1, 2010. Thanks for the info.

I sure hope that is not a typo. I was told and have read this more than once and this is the first time April 1st has been mentioned.
In fact a Lifeguard told me the area was closed as of the first of the year just over a month ago.
So now that I am really confussed expect a call to the DFG tomorrow for a report.
Thanks for the post. This could be the best news in the world.

Re: Sonoma County Report

Glad to help. I might also recommend you take a look at page 5 and 6 of the pdf linked there, as while gerstle is closed, the area immediately north of it is open to recreational take. It does connect with Stewarts point area though just north of there, which is no take. Not sure if this saves your area or not, but worth another peek at the maps.

Recreational take of abalone and finfish only.

Matt won't be able to take anymore scallops there.
