You must not be killing much. You start poking holes in fish anywhere this time of year and some kind of shark will smell it.

Re: BULL SHARK ALERT - Clearwater

Every time I have gone out this year I have had the opportunity to meet a few sharks. Hammerhead at the Sheridan. Bull and tiger at the rube. No problems just got out of the water. I think it is cool seeing them. Just don't wanna get bit. Be safe man!!

No not heavy at all, it straps around your leg, battery charged, an electric deterrent to sharks, shocks them away. Wouldnt spear fish without it, especially at nite!! I've had them sneak up on me while I'm stringing, those are the ones you gotta watch google it for all info.

Re: BULL SHARK ALERT - Clearwater

John Burg, I've been on this site for a while, just never asked any questions because I really didn't have any. I didn't state the amount of dives I do in an effort to one up you (though I dive considerably more than you). I was just trying to make the point that your diving in the wrong place if your surrounded by bull sharks... That makes sense right? I'm not trying to argue, just trying to point you in a different direction.... If your still diving the rube Allen, you should probably spend more than 2 of your 15 hours looking for new spots... (not sure why your underwater looking for spots??? Get a good bottom finder and you can do it from the boat).

Ok I'm done being a smart ass... Just messing with you john... Let's get in the mix and do some dives together...

Re: BULL SHARK ALERT - Clearwater

No worries anchor, i prefer a smart ass to a dumb ass any day. Rube is actually one of my least favorite spots but there is a nice ledge out that way that can normally produce for us. I dive alot by most peoples standard and have only had 2 dives recently that got the old heart rate up, isolated events Im strongly hoping. On the other hand the bulls are hunting the same thing i am, so if they think vets has fish and is worth the cruise then so do i, Im not gonna let a little thing like bleeding out stop me from doing what i love.

As for the 2 hours looking for new spots, we don't just jump out randomly but no way to know what the spike is unless i flip off the deck and go check her out.

If you spend more time out there than me you must have a boat right? How far out you go and from which inlet? Im always down for a 60 mile out buddy boat pipeline expedition, you think a week from today? Or you wana jump in with us for some night drops monday? After the incident, we lost a couple of our normal guys on rotation haha.

Re: BULL SHARK ALERT - Clearwater

I leave from desoto usually, sometimes johns pass. I usually max out at about 45 miles. My body hasn't been recovering very well after these long boat trips. We went today and it was flat calm, but I'm still having to ice the knees and back!!! But I'm down whatever.. I'd rather hit some day time spots with you.... Can't say I'm super pumped to dive at night with swarms of bull sharks!!! How far is the veterans reef? 12 miles? Next Saturday sounds pretty good..

It's those damn GGs you gotta look out for. They can suck down the whole fish. Anyone have a shaft for sale?

One time i was a little farther into the sheridan than i should have been, chasing my pair of gags for the day. Shot a nice one right at the bottom of the pilot house stairs when king grouper flies out of the blackness, sucks up my fish and shaft then takes me on a ride toward a sharp, rusty, kind of nasty i want nothing to do with. Obviously i let go, thought seriously about going after my gun, poked my head down there then said **** it, I'm not gonna let a fish or 200 dollar gun kill me as its probably still connected to 300 pounds of pissed of jew fish.

Maybe someone else can do the JEW FISH ALERT !!!!!
