Spanish macks

Anyone ever jump in with a mask and gun when macks are under a bait ball on surface? I'm sure we've all seen bait jumping and water boiling. Seems like it ought to work to hang out floating on surface and line shoot macks but not sure if they'd move off too quick.

I have done that many times when I was teaching my son to spearfish. They don't spook to easily. Good target practice. Gotta be extra careful if your in the water with someone else, macks are always moving.

Yes, many times. Kings are often mixed in too, depending on time of year. They usually hang off to the outside of the bait and Spanish Mackerel feast-fest and come in when they see a good target.
