Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Had dive at Beavertail Jamestown yesterday on sunset. Nice dive overall, keep having a good visibility (10-15' in spots) on low tide this spring. Saw bunch of togs, stripers, and few nice black sea bass. Nothing big though.
You have a few more days to shot your spring tog before the closure if you didn't yet |

Dove Westport on Sat. Viz was 4 feet and really thick. Managed two tog. A lot of small stripers doing flybys.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Managed to get out to Jamestown yesterday for the first dive of the year and a last ditch effort for some spring togs. Parking at Wetherill was a friggin' nightmare, but managed to find a spot. Jamestown PD made a killing on tickets yesterday, that's for sure.
Paddled the yak down the coast on incoming tide. Swells had calmed down, the sun was out and a steady offshore breeze was blowing. Anchored up, suited up, and jumped into mother ocean. Right away, I knew it was going to be a good day. Visibility was good, 10-15ft, and they were in thick n' shallow. Spent about an hour in the water finding three lucky white chins. Water felt warm for this time of year and didn't see any bass. Overall, great conditions and a lucky first-and-last spring tog dive. |

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Incredible visibility in the southern RI! 20-25ft all the way top to the bottom in Charlestown Breachway area on a high tide. Lots of fat togs, and bunch of other fish, mostly small (scup, striper, fluke, bsb, robin, etc.). Didn't see any descent bass, but I would give it another try. I forgot how nice to dive in a clear water!

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Beavertail yesterday early morning, incoming tide, super foggy. Tons of fat togs in shallow. Vis was 8-10. Got my first striper of the year. Just shy of 35". This new slot sizing is challenging.

Water is a pea soup in Jamestown. Don't waste your time.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Surface conditions were a little rough but had 8-10’ vis on south shore of Newport this afternoon, top of the tide.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Dove Newport again yesterday morning, top of the tide. Started out murky on top and 6-8’ on bottom but then opened up on the outgoing to 8-10’. Wind was whipping out of the north but surface conditions were good.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Watch Hill Lighthouse, Westerly yesterday on sunset (high tide slack) - ok vis (6-10ft). Plenty of life. Schools of stripers (missed a slot size twice), a lot of togs, mostly small ~15-16", surprisingly good amount of keeper size Black Seabass. Shot three BSB, totally forgot that bag limit is 7 already. Beware, very challenging spot! R&R guys don't let you come close to shore, boat traffic is heavy further away (was almost ran over once), and heavy current restrict your maneuverability. fishcurrents.com helps a lot with current forecast.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Hull cove on incoming tide last Sunday. Vis was mixed, mostly 4-8ft. Water was crazy warm, felt like 65+, nothing like last year. Ended up having a good day with a 29" striper, 18" black sea bass and four meaty togs. Seems like the fall season is going to run late, so get out there and good luck!

Newport.
Viz a bit messy 6-8, but consistent all the way to the bottom. Tautogs moving to the deeper areas (30-40ft), but still abundant. No monsters but still limited in qty. Was really comfortable in 7mm top and 5mm bottom opencell. |

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Got in the water yesterday in Wickford for an hour in my 5mm to clean the bottom of the boat. Surprisingly tolerable. Water was 46F and vis was at least 15ft. Tog opening day is coming!

Dived in south Boston today. Visibility was decent 10 feet. Saw two bass schoolies and a couple of tautogs. Shot at the togs, but missed. Water is still cold.
