Islamorda / Tavernier (??)

Currently staying just north of Tavernier Creek. Looking for location(s) south of Key Largo and off Tavernier / Islamorda. Tried just north of Davis Reef today (missed nice hog; I suck). Planning on more hard bottom rest of week unless someone has better location / numbers.

Teaching youngest to spear. Failed today. Poor role model!

Dont know much about the area, but i do know that a hots spot map can get you near good spots off the bat and you can drift to find more. Believe it or not, thats how many good spots are found around here.

Re: Islamorda / Tavernier (??)

What he said I just moved to the area about a month or so ago and was cluless besides i knew I had to be atleast 3 miles from the nearest land and stay out of protected areas.. So I got the navionics app loaded on my phone which clearly shows the 3 mile line and sanctuaries and the hot spots.. Started at crocker reef in about 20 ft and just drifted till I find a school of snapper or grunts and anchor to work the area a little more.. There's alot of reef to cover out there so you can tow someone behind the boat, drift, or just simply look dark spots and contour and jump in to see who's home.. Don't sweat missing that hog, there's plenty out there

Going south of Long key Do you know of any general areas to search for patch reefs to spear that are accessible by kayak?
