Oooorah!

And just to add to your store of USMC trivia, Officers at least (I'm not sure about NCOs), must have their names engraved on their swords. I guess its to keep us from being cheap and sharing one sword among friends for the occasional parade.

The only exception is that an officer can pass his sword along to his son, who is then permitted to use that sword with his father's name. I was going to pass my sword along to my son when he was commissioned, but about three weeks prior to the event, my house was burglarized and the sword was stolen.

So he had to buy his own sword.

Re: Intresting gun on craigslist

I was thinking it was kinda funny that it had the name Red October on a gun that would have been issued before the movie came out. The guy that sold it in moskow probably had a stack of them in the backroom and would bring one out each time he sold one to an american turist.

Re: Intresting gun on craigslist

"Red October" is a government award for this gun which normally goes under the name of "Korsar" or Corsair. It was one of the first pneumovacuum spearguns and that is why it received this recognition, especially considering the junk coming out of State Factories back then, although there were always exceptions. Now this is changing with private groups starting up speargun manufacturing enterprises making much better guns.

Only a few commemorative “Korsar” guns were produced, so more a collectable than anything else. As for spearfishing, find something else!

Re: Intresting gun on craigslist

Here is the basic gun rather than the commemorative edition, one just showed up on another speargun site.

These guns were made in Ukraine which had been part of the Soviet Union. This one produced circa 1992.
