You've got my vote, and I can vouch for three others not on the board.

IMO for me any way it would not be sporting or a challenge at all,the lakes i have been diving in with them and on noisy scuba gear i can swim up to them within 6" and if it was legal to spear them it sure isn't a challenge , but i guess if your just after food it would be easy and quick .They will follow you around and look right at you . |

Nice, I hear they are pretty fast You think thats easy you should try shooting crappie when they are stacked in flooded timber...fish in a barrel.

Re: Freshwater Spearfishing in Oregon-Rule Change Proposal
You have my vote! I would make the catch limits for spearfisherman the same for line fisherman. Yes, I agree bass would be easy to spear. However I see no harm if we have the same catch limits as everyone else. I see tons of H/L guys fill their bass limits and I would love to do the same with my spear!

Re: Freshwater Spearfishing in Oregon-Rule Change Proposal
I wish we could get something passed that would allow us to spear salmon in the ocean. Perhaps a 1-2 fish limit/year regardless of adipose fin clip. I don't think this would have too much of an impact on the population since the chances of finding them are rare. I've only seen a couple(one that was decent sized) in my diving up here and in Washington.

Sounds good to me. I could see a freshwater tournament up there easy.
When your ready, let me know and I can give you Cencal and USOA blessing. As for shooting easy fish,,,,, well,,,, food is food, and he was right about rockfish. Bass are very tasty.

Re: Freshwater Spearfishing in Oregon-Rule Change Proposal
Thanks Dennis that will be great when the time comes. I do have a little bad news though about the time frame that this will be happening in. I apparently misunderstood while having a conversation with one of the local ODFW guys about the rule review process. There was a new 5 step process put in place to manage the public input process, and i thought he said it was going to be reviewed yearly, so I did not rush to get my basic proposal in to the state in time. I wasn't confident in it anyways soooo No big deal right? There is always next year right? Wrong! I went to the ODFW website to read the "new" process rules and get the deadline date for next time(after this years deadline of course)and The public imput process is still once every 4 YEARS. Needless to say,I was not a very happy guy because of my own mistake of not checking for myself. Lesson learned. Anyways I will still be putting this together for 2016(man that's depressing) and after some info from RockyMountainSpearo about their adventures with Colorado and their neighboring states, have come to realize there will have to be a group effort in order to be taken seriously by the state. They were at every meeting, showed vids, gear, answered questions and still had a tough go of it.I guess we have plenty of time to get organized now. Moral of that story is when the time comes lots of us will need to show up and get heard. Sorry for the F*** up.

Re: Freshwater Spearfishing in Oregon-Rule Change Proposal
That's OK. Let us know when we need to act. I will show up at meetings and testify or whatever is needed. Thanks for your efforts on this issue.
