Anyoen need a job

http://chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4288529.html

Looks like commercial divers are needed. Might be something for me to think about to make a little money. I have heard horror stories of commercial divers about being injury from doing sat. diving but might be a chance to make some good money.

A buddy of mine said that on deco stops he used to get the tenders to drop a gun down to him. He'd shoot a fish, then let the tenders haul them back up. Over six or eight beers one night he starts telling all the stories. It sounded to me like the small amount of time shooting fish was the only fun to be had at that hellish job.

good money....if youre willing to shave a couple of years of your life. Saturation diving is very dangerous.

Not a chance in Hell you'll get me to be a Sat Rat unless its in one of those "cushy" habitats like the Aquarius.

Re: Anyoen need a job

Commercial Diving is only a good job if you love being offshore surrounded by grumpy guys that stink like shit that tell bullshit stories about getting laid then working 12 on 12 off shifts 7 days a week for months on end.

I did it for 2 years and it turns normal guys into asshole, pussy deprived creeps that will land the fattest pig in the bar and think he did a good job.

No thanks, not enough money out there to make me live like that again.

I would rather live by the beach, have a cool outside sales gig, get laid everynight, spearfish when I want and not share a stuffy oil rig bunk room with 8 other dudes.

but.... to each his own. you can make some good money but thats being offshore for 230+ days a year... barf!

Re: Anyoen need a job

There's 2 reasons people get paid a lot of money for jobs....1 is that they have a unique skill that is in short supply. the other is that they are being compensated for negative aspects of the job experience. My guess is that in this case, it's the latter.
