Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Shallow could be a problem but it's been nice in 60-80 feet for awhile. It's not going to be terrible over this one front in my opinion. But I'm leaving town so I'm not going to be putting my money where my mouth is.

The swell this week was pretty big. Surfed very fun waves in the waist to chest high range Wednesday which would translate to around 5-7' seas offshore. I would say anything in shallow (less than 70' or so) will be wrecked vis wise for a bit.

And it was sustained over many days. In the past it has taken about a week for it to clear up. Three (Two) Rooker should be epic this weekend.

Alright boys... here it is! A few of us braved the weather and viz Sunday! Out of anclote, winds were 10+ knots seas were 2-3... a lot more than the weatherman said... water temp was 65-66
Viz in 40' - hazy on top, 20 on bottom
Viz in 35' - very hazy on top 15 on bottom
Viz in 30' - 6-9'
Anything less than that was straight murk.
We shot 9 hogs and a few sherpas gags were everywhere! A few snapper but mostly small. Sherpas are thinning out. Got ran off a ledge by a bull. Had to hit him twice to leave us alone and diving in the low viz didn't make sense there so we moved on. It seems like the wind was a lot calmer south. The skyway was pretty flat... maybe we should of stayed south! Oh well what we shot will make for some good tacos!

Giving it some serious thought. Sunday so far looks like the day. Problem is finding people to go out - some sort of special day on Sunday involving rug rats, eggs, and bunnies. Odd.

Eric, always difficult to get people on holidays. Good luck Actually, the seas starting on Sunday thru Friday lay down even more during the week. Also, hard to get people during the week till the first week ARS and gags open. Then, for some reason people need a "Spearing Day" for mental health and stress relief.

Yeah, I'm wishing I had off next week instead of the following week - LOL.

"Hey fam, I'll be right back", probably wouldn't fly for Sunday. Tempting though.

Too bad we have to travel a million miles to get to clean water. Otherwise a quick morning trip would be doable.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Out of Passagrille and returned through JP Wednesday did not dive but was out on the water.

The water has really cleared up from 30' -50' and I could see my baits nearly to the bottom.

More importantly water temps were 73.5º in 30fsw, 72.5º in 40fsw and 71.5º in 50fsw

Hope that helps someone if you can get out between the weather.

It was top to bottom from 15fsw and out from Anclote yesterday. And very fishy! Water temp 72. I was fine in my 3mm without hood.

Chuck, I need to go up your way where the water is warmer.

I think Sunday may be our best shot. Gonna stay in shallower in less than 35 fsw and see what happens. If things start to get snotty or thunder-y, we'll run back in and hit the bars

I think that's the only plan that makes sense. I'm not committed to going - waiting to see what these weather does. North than South than North again Sunday is a weird pattern.
