The difference between the two is management and environment and Southwest has seen success DESPITE unions, not the other way around. If Southwests customer service is know as "excellent" our country is F'ed. We have become so accustomed to absolute crap service that even a hardly mediocre experience and we rant and rave like they gave us head. Southwest is TERRIBLE but cheap so we accept it. I have had just as many problems with lost bags, cancelled flights, overbooked flights, delayed flights missed connections etc. flying them as I have with any other airline in the US. The only reason they have remained profitable is they cut out every single amenity that makes a flight a semi decent experience. Now you have to pay extra for anything and you don't even get peanuts. Part of the reason we have to pay extra for bags or $5 for a beer is the extra costs brought on by terroristic union negotiation tactics and the higher wages they demand. If a company is run by decent management and offers a competitive wage and benefits package, then what benefit to your business is a unionized labor force? There is a reason they are dying out and businesses fight unions. |

Re: Why our country is dying
Easy Alice, I pay a boat load in taxes and run my own business. I have no doubt I pay far more in taxes than I will ever see in government services. My comment is called sarcasm but that apparently escapes you. While I pay a lot in taxes I have no problem with how much I pay. I have issues over how it's spent but that is a whole different discussion.
