Ways to fabricate a larger butt pad?
Hey guys, I have a cressi geronimo elite camo 95 but i dont have a wetsuit and loading it is nothing short of painful. any suggestions on ways to pad and or enlarge the butt pad? I tried to zip tie some coozies to the butt pad but they were not only bouyant but slippery so underwater the gun slid off of my hip. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would highly recommend wearing a 1.5mm rash guard with a loading pad. It will also provide you skin protection against little critters and the sun.
Here is one that mako makes. http://www.makospearguns.com/mobile/default.aspx#P37427

If you are hip loading, you may try putting a 6 inch wide strip of rubber backed carpet on the weight belt that hangs down over the loading spot on your thigh. Rubber side out.

Re: Ways to fabricate a larger butt pad?
I was in a similar boat until recently. I did have wetsuits since they are kind of needed where I dive but still found it painful to load without a pad. I got one of these and was very happy with it.

Re: Ways to fabricate a larger butt pad?
I like the ulusub rash guard. It has a chest loading pad, a hood to keep your neck from getting sunburned (plus your back is covered from the sun as well and you are covered from getting spined by a fish), and it also has a handy storage pocket on your lower back where you can store your gloves, camera, small water bottle, or a snack. It also comes with pants to keep your legs from being burnt, but you don't have to wear them with the top. The ulusub rash guard, wetsuits, gloves, and booties are all very well made products and well thought out by Jon.

Re: Ways to fabricate a larger butt pad?
Why not buy a cheap pair of flip-flops and cut it to size of the butt. Then just glue it on.

Re: Ways to fabricate a larger butt pad?
sounds like a good idea... thinking about making it slightly bigger than the current butt so that i have more surface area, would need a rigid sandal for that, thanks for the idea

Re: Ways to fabricate a larger butt pad?
flip flop or piece of a kickboard on the back then dip it in this rubber stuff called plasti dip, I was in the same situation and it changed my opinion on my gun dramatically.

Re: Ways to fabricate a larger butt pad?
I have the same gun, my biggest gripe with it was the pathetic butt platform and the fact that cressi hasn't made an aftermarket pad for it and when the water is warm I really don't want to wear more than some shorts. I also have a JBL woody with a nice big, colorful, comfortable aftermarket pad, but I like the way my cressi shoots more. So I actually found a rubber fabricator to make a big circular yellow pad right over the current plastic butt, it looks like it was factory made. Now the cressi is my favorite by far.
