Carribean Ciguatera
In Guadeloupe, shot a ~3' barracuda and a few yellow/blue jacks. The locals claim the 'cuda to be ok, but the yellow jacks to be poisonous....
Anybody have any knowledge on the subject? |

Re: Carribean Ciguatera
Used to spear in St. John USVI and had the same problem. Locals claimed that predatory fish have higher levels of ciguatera, aka bigger the fish = more ciguatera. They also mentioned that it is mainly found in reef fish. Also heard some horror stories of locals ingesting ciguatera and it seems to be a brutal experience.
