Does a single set of 20mm band work well as the "bottom" band for invert roller guns?

Currently eyeing MVD invert roller guns, which have three sets of 14mm bands.
One set is permanently anchored, I guess I'll call this set the "top" band.
When you load the gun, the other two sets are unhooked from the handle hook, the wishbone is loaded to the sharkfin, at which point the pulleys and the bottom two sets of bands move forward (like in this video https://youtu.be/w4vSBbJ5sIU?t=288). Finally the two bottom sets of bands are anchored to the handle hook.

So I was just wondering, wouldn't a single set of 20mm bottom band instead of the "two 14mm bottom sets" work ok? or is this not an ideal setup for some reason? I've never used the invert roller setup but 3 sets of bands surrounding the barrel seemed a little too much and thought maybe 14mm + 20mm set could work similar to the triple 14mm set.

Every company or maker uses different combos. Probably based on gun/shaft size. If a gun company tests their guns and they have set them up, it might not be wise to change that. Using a 20mm band would probably be to large for a pipe roller gun that they sell.

You could use a Single 20mm Band as a Pretension? I've seen some guns like that. 20mm bands are a bitch to pull, but if using a single for pretension should be okay. 16mm and 18mm bands are common for bottom. Some of it has to do with whether they are small ID. a 16mm Small ID Band packs a punch.

If it was a cable gun and the band does not go around a roller then it would work. The idea behind slim bands is that you split the loading effort using more of them. I use 20 mm bands on my 3/8" shaft guns, but rollerguns are better with smaller bands. Using thicker and fewer bands makes for faster loading, but it makes for a big effort each time and you become reluctant to pull the trigger until you find a worthy target.

An example of where you could use a single 20 mm band strand is this gun from GPS Spearguns where the central band was always connected.
