Reports? Thing of the past?

All right, COVID, BLACK LIVES MATTER.......WTF.When is there gonna be a report listed. I saw the kelp coming back and now itís going away again.... caught some halibuts on line but not seen anything worth shooting yet. Is this season gonna be like last?

Re: Reports? Thing of the past?

about July, son, July..... Wind, south swell and green water along coast has limited choices...some yellows and wsb at Catalina in 64 to 66 degree water, but many still holding off on offshore trips due to virus and unemployment...should change as the weather improves...expecting the big tuna up our way by July...

Re: Reports? Thing of the past?

I dove Catalina Island last week Thursday and Friday. Thursday we dove the west end and around to Eagle Rock. Water clarity was 8/10 with big and very shy yellowtail breezing by me 5 times. My aim was horrible and I missed all 5 opportunities.

We drove east to Avalon and moored for the night. We continued onto the rock quarry and around to Church Rock. The water was at least 5 degrees colder and the clarity was 5/10 with a strong westerly current. Few schools of small bonito but no yellows.

Tough outing for me as I should have landed at least two yellows.

Catalina is definitely worth it! Sharpen your slip-tip and head out to your favorite pinnacle or high spot, the yellows are definitely there.

by the way, There weren't more than 10 people walking around Avalon at any given time on Friday evening when we left- it was so sad. I was so glad to receive an email message from The Catalina Company yesterday saying that the Island will be back to full swing tomorrow 6/12 and all restaurants and shops will be open for business.

No sea menso mijo, no sea menso!!!!!
