La Jolla/Camp Pendleton

My boys and I are going to be at Camp Pendleton July 17-21. We're advanced free divers but will have some novice teens with us that we want to teach to dive and use three prongs. Any advice on locations? We're from Big Island and know Baja, Florida, and Santa Barbara waters but not San Diego area. I would be glad to reciprocate info to anyone travelling to these spots in return.

Camp pendleton does not allow diving off their beaches, you can probally get away with it down by the san Onofre beach on base.
I would suggest hitting up Carlsbad and then moving down to Lajolla area.
The Kelp off Carlsbad is pretty good area to get your feet wet.
Good luck.
Maybe we will run into you out there somewhere.

Childrens pool. you can find white sea bass in 15 feet of water 100 yards of off the wall. typically great visibility, and a calm, safe entry.

Re: La Jolla/Camp Pendleton

Great info. Hopefully after we're done with the instruction/supervision my sons and I can break away for a session or two with the yaks and the guns. I appreciate your time answering my request...no worries, we're all about respecting the locals and they're hunting grounds.
