Donations for OutdoorCatholic/Michael Burton

RIP Michael

Michael passed away while diving in Beaver Lake, Arkansas on Saturday, 27 July 2013. He left behind a young wife and a son under one year of age. A lot of you either knew Michael personally or just from his numerous informative posts here on SB. I am setting up a donation PayPal site for donations to Michael's surviving wife and son.

I host an Annual Aloha Polespear tournament to raise funds for the surviving wife and daughter of another fallen spearo, Sean "Stody" Stodelle who lost a battle to brain cancer. Well, Michael participated in two of those events and I could always count on him to support those efforts to help out the families of our fallen. He was a very selfless guy and always willing to help others.
If you could spare any money to help out his family please send a PayPal donation to Baystealth_03 at yahoo. When making the donation please use the friend/family option to avoid any fees that might take away from our efforts.

Here are some pics I have of Michael from the 2nd and 3rd Annual Aloha Polespear Tournament.

If you have any questions please feel free to PM me or email me at the PayPal address above.

Much Aloha,
Chad

Re: Donations for OutdoorCatholic/Michael Burton

I've received some very generous donations, I am amazed at the support that our small community shows when one of our own has fallen or needs help.
Please keep them coming.

Aloha,
Chad

Re: Donations for OutdoorCatholic/Michael Burton

This is from Michael's mother, Marissa
"Dear SB Members,

I am Outdoor Catholic's mom. My name is Marissa. Our family would like to thank you for the many posts about Michael. It gives us all great comfort that Michael provided valuable information to many of you. It also warms our heart that some of you had the opportunity to meet Michael and dive with him. Diving was certainly one of Michael's passion, but I can tell you his greatest passion was his Lord, his wife Annemarie and his son Isaac. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful son who then gave me another daughter and beautiful grandson. While we do not know what happened, I can tell you that in my heart of hearts I know that Michael was trying to be safe. He would never do anything that would harm his wife and son. I can also tell you that Michael died in grace and is in the arms of Jesus. While we miss him terribly, we were blessed by him over the last 28 years. Michael has 2 brothers and one sister. He was the oldest of 4 children and looks just like his 2 brothers. He not only was a wonderful son to both me and his dad, but he was such a loving brother too. We pray they can find his body soon so perhaps some questions can be answered. Regardless of the outcome, please continue to be safe. Follow the safety information Michael provided on this forum and also provide love and grace to Brandon his dive buddy who is suffering through this loss as well. God Bless all of you, be safe and remember life is short so forgive anyone who you need to so you have no regrets if someone unexpectedly dies. I have no regrets, Michael knows how much he was loved..."

Bump.

I think every one here could spare 15 or 20 bucks, I know it's not much but a few of us who do this could really add up! Come on people lets see how many we can get!

Re: Donations for OutdoorCatholic/Michael Burton

Just curious if there are any of our sponsors out there who would donate a gun or something to be auctioned off with the proceeds going to his family. Fins, A float line, any thing really.

That would be so awesome if someone would step up and donate something for a raffle to help these fundraising efforts.

Re: Donations for OutdoorCatholic/Michael Burton

Done!

I've only been a member of the community for a short time and Michael was the first to welcome me to the board. Having never met the guy personally you could just tell there was something about him that was special. I wish I had the opportunity to get to know him personally but, in a sense, we all have. He has left a very large footprint on this site/community and will be sorely missed by all. Everyone that can please donate to his family and let them know the kind of people we are and what Michael meant to us.

Rest In Peace my brother

Wyatt, that is very nice of you and is an amazing way to step up and support Michael's family during these tragic times.
Best of luck in the job hunt.

Aloha,
Chad
