First Annual Salty Gators Intercollegiate Spearfishing Tournament May 5-6th Key West

Hey Guys,

Salty Gators, the fishing club at UF is hosting the first annual Florida Intercollegiate Spearfishing Tournament on May 5-6 at Geiger Key Marina in Key West. The idea behind this tournament is to bring together divers from universities around the state to compete for the title of top college spearfishing team. Of equal importance, this event will serve as a means of networking and building connections with divers from other schools.

To compete in this tournament you must assemble a team with at least one member who is a part of a collegiate club. All of the information and registration for the tournament can be found at http://ufsaltygators.com/news-events

We would like to publicly thank all of our awesome sponsors. Without their support, we would not be able to host this tournament. Diving on a college budget is tough; the generous support of all our tournament sponsors allows us to do what we love.

Huge Thanks to

Hey kwyoungspear,

Participation is limited to 4-year universities. Thanks for the inquiry though.

Re: First Annual Salty Gators Intercollegiate Spearfishing Tournament May 5-6th Key W

Hey Everyone,

We were very happy with the turnout for our first spearfishing tournament. Teams from FGCU, UCF, FIT and UF competed to make a total of five teams (UF had two teams).
The conditions were less than optimal with the 15-20 knot winds the whole week preceding the tournament. The challenge was finding decent vis. Despite the tough conditions we
all still had a great time.

UCF placed third in the collegiate division
FGCU placed second in the collegiate division
UF placed first in the collegiate division

UFSaltyGators placed second for the team division
FGCU Eagles placed first in the team division

We would like to thank all of our sponsors again for allowing us to make this tournament happen. Without their support, there would be no way we could host an event like this.

Thank You to:
