Furniture

took up a new hobby to pass the winter by. Decided to furnish my new home with furniture I made myself. Still working on new projects every day, and starting to get requests for new projects. Last picture of the lumber load is local pine milled by a new friend up here.

Re: Furniture

Nothing like building something with your hand and getting to use it.I have built homes and done a lot of renovations.
I have wanted to build cedar strip canoes and kayaks for years but have always been too busy working on other peoples projects.

Re: Furniture

Wear a mask and long sleeve t shirts when your milling the cedar.I used to do a lot of houses with cedar trim. The stuff irritates your lungs and skin.Smells great though.
Im looking at building a metal building to start doing the strip boards and to store my SUP inventory till it sells.Big fans pushing dust out and vacuums on the power tools helps keep the dust down. The fumes from the epoxy are toxic too.
Seems everything I like is dangerous, bad for you, illegal or too expensive.

I always wear a respirator in the shop, lucky me work gives them to us. When i start working at home in the spring ill bring the tools out of the shed into the yard to cut down on dust. just too damn cold out right now to spend time out there.

Re: Furniture

I have the makings of a professional furniture shop out in my garage but I'm still unpacking after moving to the PNW. Eventually I'll get it set up again and start making stuff. Building furniture is most satisfying.

Re: Furniture

Nice looking furniture.

I've recently gotten in to wood working. Love doing the slab tables. I just finished this one up and starting tomorrow on a big 7' x 4' silver maple desk for my shop.

Nice looking furniture.

Heres a live edge walnut table I made. Welded up the legs and finished the big slab of walnut that I got off Craigslist

Re: Furniture

Two very nice tables, gents. Live edge is something I find really appealing.
