Re: Beach Vis

Hey Guys, how is everyone doing. I am new to the Board and also kind of new to spearfishing in general even though I have done it a couple of times. I was wondering whats the nearest beach to Miami to beach dive as well as if anyone dives there often and would like to partner up. Even though I am not an expert I always play it safe and have spearfish a couple of times but never from the beach so thats completely new to me.

Re: Beach Vis

Hi traveller, there is reef all the way up and down the coast. go to your LDS and ask them for some good local beach dive locations for beginners (close to shore) and that should be sufficient.

I spearfished Ft. Pierce area that day - had great vis but it diminished to 5-7 feet by 3:00 pm and was ROUGH!...Vis has been shot since. Looking like it MIGHT be doable by the weekend though! If not I will be at Blue Springs atleast getting some depth.

Re: Beach Vis

Drew, save your time. There isn't too much swell in the water, but the wind is on it pretty hard out of the North. 1-2 feet of vis max off of wabasso/vero this morning.

No, but very reliable reports from several areas - The vis was almost top to bottom out to 80 feet today just south of FP. Hopefully this wind-swell doesn't kill it again.

Re: Beach Vis

Might want to bring a small wave surfboard. Wind is onshore and it's been murky/choppy for days now with 3-5' waves. Beach diving conditions should be pretty bad up there for the next few days and probably through the weekend.
