Broken wishbones - Oversized spears - Clunky and heavy for the size - No power - Headaches....Shall I go on?

Do yourself a favor and get a MAKO or a Rob Allen or something similar. The JBL will kill some fish for sure - I've shot tons with mine before giving it away to a newb friend.

In MY world any of the old style JBL's are pure junk. They have however recently come out with some more modernized better looking guns - The price is more modern too though! For my money I'll go with a well known euro style gun every time.

Re: JBL Super Carbine

If that's Ur only option buy a rail for it for around 15$ well worth money but its still a jbl.... get a rail and kill as many fish as you can

Re: JBL Super Carbine

JBL is known for making crap spearguns. I'm surprised they're still in business.

They have no power, and their shafts are too thick .

Simple answer...they are cheap and shoot fish. I have shot literally hundreds of fish with my $70 carbine without any problem.

Yes they shoot fish, but when you compare them to all the other companies, they are inferior in many ways

Re: JBL Super Carbine

I think so many of you fail to realize jbl has,PRICE POINT don't bash a guy of thats what he wants to invest in a gun. Jbls work not as good or quality as others but we come back to price point. They can get the job done

Re: JBL Super Carbine

I have the super carbine. Main issue i had is trigger malfunction. sometimes it wont fire when you press the trigger. it has happened about 4 times during 15 different dives.

I just got a magnum 450 tho. If you can spent a little more buy something different.

x10

Get a Rob Allen. They are just a little more expensive than the Makos and are leaps and bounds better than JBL and much better than Mako. I have a mako and have used RA and know many people who have them. Save up a little longer and it will save you much frustration in the future.

Re: JBL Super Carbine

Single-piece trigger in the "Carbine" models limits the amount of band pull that can be used with the gun. Not a show-stopper, but means that the gun has to be used with the stock bands. An entry level gun for those starting out and want to buy something made in the US.
