Review: Gat-Ku 5mm wetsuit

Picked up a 5mm Gat-Ku Natural Series wetsuit not too long ago and thought I'd give some feedback for its early stages since I just purchased it, then I'll post another review a few months from now for a comparison.

First off, customer service was great. I was actually able to just pick it up from the shop sense I live here in San Diego. Dustin was kind enough to toss in some extra goodies and gave me the low down on cleaning/care.

I dive in San Diego waters which can be fairly cold at times. The 5mm was perfect in 56* waters. Even at depth (30-40ft) I was comfortable. Come to think of it, it was warmer than my 7mm Scuba wetsuit that i paid way too much money for.

On/Off: fairly simple. water and some cheap conditioner and you'll slip and slide right in.

Over all: Impressed. Great purchase.

What do you think of the knife pocket?

Re: Review: Gat-Ku 5mm wetsuit

I dive with the gat-ku knife. With the sheath it fits snug and perfectly. Not sure how it'll size up with other knives. I used to dive with a mini strapped to my arm so the concept of a knife in a pocket is new to me.

Maybe someone can clear it up...but with you guys using pockets, I'm assuming the knives are sheathed in the pocket. Are you pulling everything out when drawing your knife? Just seems dangerous for the wetsuit placing the knife back in...

Re: Review: Gat-Ku 5mm wetsuit

i use the gat-ku suit with the knife that came with the suit. it fits so well i cut off wetsuit cover strap for easier access and its never fallen out... though the knife is nothing special its a good work horse knife for braining fish or cutting kelp off an anchor or prop and you dont have to worry about screwing up an expensive knife...
