Re: Tips on spearing Kings?
If you shoot at a big one make sure you make your shot counts (stone it) or he will pull around for awhile! This one wieght 42lbs and I had a solid shot but just not a kill shot so I went for a 8-10 min ride.

Re: Tips on spearing Kings?
Only thing I didn’t see so far is shot angle. I use a flopper and don’t shoot unless I get a downwards quartering away shot. Best if you can enter above the shoulder and pop out on the throat. I’ll probably be trying out a slip tip at the Kingfish Shootout this year. If you can bring your boat to Jupiter, I can make sure to hook you up with some divers who will show you how it’s done.

Re: Tips on spearing Kings?
went out today, had a flashers in the water and burned through 2 boxes of sardines.. we started our drifts in 100 and ended them around 45 (current was pretty strong) no sign of any kings... only got 3 cero and a few mango's when we came up to the reefs, vis was 20ft in shallow and maybe 30ft offshore.. maybe vis was no good? maybe current was too strong?? but hey, atleast i got something
oh and there was lots of weird worm like jelly fish on the top 4 feet of the water column, i'm not sure what it was.. but there was crap tons of it. on another note a school of spadefish/chubs was hanging around my flasher! atleast it caught some attention for $0.99 |
