A Calm Reply for Yiannis:
Maybe I gave you the wrong impression. We left behind many short lobster as well as eggers etc. We only take legal lobster. In Nj we are allowed 6 lobster a day per person (size limits ,etc apply). We were one lobster short of a boat limit and could have taken several more that were just barely legal if we wanted to cheat. The recreational divers in this state account for less than 1% of the lobster taken and most divers don't catch any lobster. Don't hate us for catching more than most. The collective dive experience on my boat is almost always over 100 years of diving so we have been getting more than most of the other divers out there. We also have lots of good spots that others do not know about that give up more seafood than the often hit wrecks. In the old days of no limits what we got that day would have seemed like a bad day. The limits these days are pretty stingy and I don't have any problem with anyone taking their legal limit of any kind of sea food. I hope this clears up my position on taking seafood and I hope you have many opportunities to get as much seafood as you can legaly take. |

Haha there's some strange people that dive there... Couple guys the other day were head to toe in half ass gear, no wetsuit, boogie board fins, swimmers goggles and holding a J snorkel from a kids pool kit with a home made pole spear. He tosses in the water a legit dive float and flag and starts swimming around with it.

G-MAN: Med my friend has none, that is why there are only a few fish left. I have learned to manage my " secret spots" and I can still get a few quality fish every now and then. I got a white grouper (7-8 kg) yesterday from a deep spot, but that was the only respectable fish I have seen in three full days of diving. That fish was with another 2 smaller fish I could probably have shoot too, but never even bothered them. I am not going back to the same spot for a couple of years. |

Re: Mid-Atlantic General Chat/ Discussion Thread
Tinfoil wrap method is definitely the way to go for our type of diving especially if you're diving the inlet.

Re: Mid-Atlantic General Chat/ Discussion Thread
Storms and winds 10-20 starting tonight. I'm guessing the vis won't be what you're hoping for.

Re: Mid-Atlantic General Chat/ Discussion Thread
Winds have tapered off since I checked last night, but T-storms still in the area. It's debatable, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to skip getting up at 0430 tomorrow to go diving.
