Dude, just make one. It's really easy, take some 3/8" or smaller rubber, the stuff you use for polespears, take some line, poke a hole in each end, run the line through one end, coil it around a few times, then through the other end. Tie up the lines on either end.

Re: coiled shock cord/muzzle bungee

Weird, I finished one literally 5 minutes ago. Realized the old one was worn out and needed one quick. I used regular 5/8 rubber (i didn't have anything smaller handy), tied a figure eight follow through knot on one end with a larks head to the muzzle, and tied the other end like i would a regular band, but with a swivel. No cord in the middle (maybe a big no-no?) Pics are attached. Thoughts?

Re: coiled shock cord/muzzle bungee

You need the line through the band. Otherwise when the rubber deteriorates, or is stretched beyond its capability, it will break. Also, using too thick of rubber will put more tension on the line release, making the trigger pull a bit heavier. 1/4-3/8 rubber is the best. If you can find synthetic rubber, even better. Synthetic rubber never deteriorates. I have the same Riffs shock cord from 13 years ago. The natural latex ones break down in about 2 years max.

Mark, do you need a regular muzzle bungee, or specifically one with the coil around the rubber? I can teach you how to make them. It takes 5 minutes. I use those for my Hawaiian break away instead of bungee cord. They last longer and retain their elasticity better.

Re: coiled shock cord/muzzle bungee

Thanks for the input! I'll have to look into picking up one from Riffe.

i prefer the ones that coil around. i have a few of the other style that i made a while back for muzzle bungee, but when rigged for a reel i prefer the lighter, simple rubber piece which i can coil a section fo reel line around.
