Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Went out today to 50-60' out of New Pass and some dives were top to bottom vis actually on one spot we could see goliath grouper swimming on bottom from the boat and some spots were 20-30' vis... Water temp was 80 degrees... Made for good diving

Hazy TTB in 40' at the M reefs off Venice, decent mangroves and that was about it. Lost a 160cm KJ Euro shaft so if anyone finds it Id love to have it back.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Out yesterday off Sarasota 70 ft had good vis I'd say 40 ft
But once we came in to the 60 ft range the vis went to shit
Ended in 50 ft with 10 - 15 ft vis
Alot of small fish saw some permit on the tanks but they were in and out
Can't wait for July 1st

X 3 on opening day! Please don't let the gags know it's open season yet till I get a shot at the biggest ones I've ever seen...like the ones yesterday. 30-35' out of CLW and was able to make out the structure from the surface early in the morning and vis deminished by noon to about 15'.

Vis in 40 ft west of 3 Rooker on some hard rocky bottom top of the tide no current was about 30 ft lots of jellyfish but not much algea fishing was slow ..some hogs lots of small mangos and scamp...small gags and reds.....
2 nd dive was about 3 miles northeast in about 38 ft on a Ledge outgoing tide lots of Algea !! Lots of fish too...good number of Hogs ...saw some large Gags...keeper Reds...tons of bait..vis was very limited due to the floating monkey snot but 20 ft when you could clear it. It's going to blow all week so this may not help anyone but wanted to post it1

Yes the small jellyfish were a bother, the deeper I went the better viz, more fish in closer.

too many spearos sitting at the dock is not a good thing! Season opens on Sunday...wonder if there will be any vis anywhere.
