Third build, 42 inch mid handle
Hey all,
Finishing up my third build this week. Spearboard has been my classroom for all things gun building related so I'd like to thank everyone who posts and answers questions. Shout outs to Phil and DeanMC for answering all my questions over email. This build I stripped the parts from my first rather clunky boxy first mid handle. Hardware is neptonics reef mech, ar-15 midhandle kit, 7.5mm shaft Wood, I went a little fancy, and lammed 1/4" rosewood/mahogany to a 1/2" paduk spine. Had a lot of fun with this one, a lot of things started to click in what I personally prefer in my guns for the dirty Jersey vis I dive in. Always looking for feedback on areas to improve. Below pics are of the glue up and after routing/drilling for hardware install Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Last edited by Mana'squal; 02-24-2018 at 11:16 AM. |

I second what Brandon said. The inlay is a nice touch too.

Re: Third build, 42 inch mid handle
42" from butt to muzzle, with only 30 inches of wood in front of your hand. Has over 28" of band stretch in a compact package.
Any input on small ID 14s vs 16s? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Really well done. How did you do the butt pad? By hand? A straight trim router bit will give you a really clean transition from wood to pad. The inlay is excellent, did you use a router and a stencil or chisel it by hand?

Re: Third build, 42 inch mid handle
Butt pad was by razor blade and sandpaper. Inlay was done with small chisels fashioned from cheap flat heads filed into blades.
Looking forward to this year's projects. I have a real router table. Up until this year I have been using fibre board with a router screwed to the bottom. (Not ideal, I do not recommend) Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

How you going to use the shark line anchor with the reel ?I think you need the regular U loop .
