2 or 3 bands for best performance
I have a customer who feels that he needs 3 tight 5/8" bands to get his 63" x 7.5 mm or 7mm spear up to speed
I feel that 2 5/8" bands that are stretched to 350% to 375% will give him the most he will get out of that configuration I do not have small id bands - so please don't bother suggesting those what I have is 5/8" bands with 1/8" hole can anyone - especially Majd please chime in - so I can have a second (or third or more) opinions on the subject I don't want to over power the gun for no reason

Re: 2 or 3 bands for best performance
If you dont have small id rubber then just 2 5/8 rubbers. Also, a better configuration with standard 1/8 I.d. rubber would be 3x14mm(9/16ths bands) at higher stretch ratio. 3.6ish

Re: 2 or 3 bands for best performance
I have never been a fan of 5/8 bands , more kick than push . Number also depends on if he wants range or brute force up close .

Re: 2 or 3 bands for best performance
We're finding a push toward 14mm bands and they seem to be getting very good results.
Note. We've done some testing on small I.D rubber purchased in the U.S. We're not entirely convinced of the results.

I have some 9/16" bands I made nice and fresh from the standard ID stuff I just ordered from you. I also have a set of the same length bands made from some small ID 9/16 I just ordered from Petros. I and my sons are going to be trying both sets of bands, along with the default 5/8" bands that came on the new RA 110 I got from you. Both sets of 9/16 bands are cut to 350% stretch when loaded properly. The factory 5/8" are at about 300% and 320%, as they are the same length, so don't stretch the same. I'm only running a single wrap of 300# mono, so I'm only looking for good accuracy out to that range. I'll post the results when I can get into some clear water. Ron. |

Re: 2 or 3 bands for best performance
Consider putting the small id bands to more then 350. 370-380 is where they realllllly shine.

Re: 2 or 3 bands for best performance
Definitely 2, especially with that small of a shaft. Tested a recent build and got worse performance out of 3.
I'm guessing you're like me and have 2 refrigerators full of rubber in case the world ends... and now stuck with a lot of 5/8 rubber, ha. I'll find something to do with it one day. For the time being, I am buying the small ID stuff (I'm not sure it has anything to do with the small ID, personally, but it is clearly a different formulation that works better) but only 50ft at a time now. I'm sure the next, greatest formulation will be out soon enough. |

Re: 2 or 3 bands for best performance
Hoping not to derail the discussion too much... on my Denton 120 I have mounted two 14mm small id primeline bands at x360 but do not feel I have enough power for my 8mm x140cm short shaft....
Should I shorten the two bands to x380 or add a third band x360?... interested more in 4-5m distance burst than accuracy at 6-7m? |

Re: 2 or 3 bands for best performance
Stay with 2 bands for the denton but Buy the 16mm small Id bands for it. If you take a caliper to the bands and measure them they actually sit at less that 16mm. More like 15-15.5mm and the 14mm rubber also measure out to about 13.2 mm.

Re: 2 or 3 bands for best performance
Thanks, you are right my bands measure 13.2 and clearly not suitable for my needs. Since I have bought 30 feet of it and I am based in Panama will try with 3 bands @ 370-380 while I wait for a new batch....

Has anyone tried penetration tests with the small ID at 370% after it has been loaded for 2 hours? Jason, 3 tight 16mm bands will often cause shaft whip on a 7mm shaft, possibly even 7.5mm. Or if in an enclosed track, a lot of friction from the shaft trying to whip. Maybe offer the customer 3 x 14mm bands with the 7.5mm shaft - if he wants 3 bands so badly. |
