Ponce Inlet on the Gator Bait 5/5/12

Crew was me and Dad. By now conditions have been posted. Dad made one dive and tipped over the big grouper (32lbs gutted). He's too shy to pose for photos, but not too shy to shoot the biggest fish! I made 3 dives, but the third one was the charm. Got the smaller grouper and this jack. Coming up got swarmed by more jacks, a cobia, and 6 or 8 sharks. One had to be 10ft. Couldnt get in the boat fast enough.

Had a good time and everyone got home safe. Getting our 2 grouper was icing on the cake.

I swear Russ, that looks like a travali jack...Iv'e seen them in Hawaii but never here. They are very good eating. I'm sure someone from down south might know better what kind of fish it is . Nice going on the groupa's. Like I said , I didn't even see one yesterday just the giant school of cobes on the Manta. I shot an 80 lbr thru the head and he snapped my shaft in half !! I know better than doing the drop w/o my ph on but we had non-spearo's on the boat as well and I didn't want to scare them.

Flip and save them in your photo program before uploading. Nice stuff Russ, next time take a photo with your Dads fish anyway!

Looks like a really big Yellow jack to me. The only big difference I can see is the top and bottom anal fins are longer than the one's I've shot.

Yeah.I think you are right. Now that I think about it, the Travali in Hawaii also had spots on them. So this one would be a true jack crevalle.
