I have owned one for years ...
I use it as a backup/loaner.
It is a great little computer, bulletproof but very aggressive by todays standards. One thing to be aware of is that while it will get you through a deco situation, it will not tell you how long you have to reamin under your ceiling. subdude |

It's not the computer that you need to worry about. The orca was a simple haldanian computer, an improvement over the SOS decomputer, but not by much. I know a few guys in sarasota that may have working ones in their attics. I'll check with them and get back to you.

Marathon Dive Computer
Guys, thanks for the posts,we presently have 5 marathons in use on our boat,we are down to our last new one(still in the box) we had a battery door seal fail and flood the inside.E.I.T. is no longer working on them so their junk when they fail. As far as being aggressive we dive them with nitrox and start ascendding before safe time remaining reaches 4 minutes.

Just a note on the Marathons. The company is out of biz. It seems like some of you may have some old ones that got flooded or don't work anymore.
Oceanic will take a broken or flooded computer as a trade in for certain new Oceanic computers. I am not sure how much you get for the trade in but it is somewhere around $100. Go to your dive shop, if they sell Oceanic, and ask them waz up with the trade in! |
