Is it the gun or diver? Shot missed
I've been missing some big fish....looks like from video replays the placement shot is lined up perfectly, but I am shooting high! Old pic..
*I am using Riffe 3 standard and using 3-9/32 bands 🤔Why is that? |

Re: Is it the gun or diver? Shot missed
I have one of those, just started using it this year. It shoots fine. Maybe not as good as my enclosed track Koah, but I usually hit what I'm shooting at. If you are using a single flopper shaft, make sure the flopper is not stuck, or hard to move. Make sure the shaft is not bent. I have missed some really close shots due to this.

Sorry, but normally the diver.I shoot a 12 yr old Biller with a worn out muzzle and manage to be pretty effective.
My suggestion if you like them would be to shoot mangos a lot. They are wary and elusive ,making them great teachers.Lineshafting yellowtail in midwater too. Watch videos of good shooters and see if you can pickup tips.

Re: Is it the gun or diver? Shot missed
I guess there is many factors to you missing one is the gun is old probably is bending or the rod is bend check that and see witch one sometimes we don’t see it but 1/8 of a inche has off at 25 feet is a foot off hope that helps
Also check the bands flexibility one side is probably bad |

Re: Is it the gun or diver? Shot missed
I can’t shoot Riffe guns, they all shoot high for me. And 3 bands is usually overkill and may cause some shaft whip.
What gun were you shooting before? C

Re: Is it the gun or diver? Shot missed
I own a riffe mahogany that I manage to Stone most things with. I’ve seem some test videos where riffe euro shafts tend the veer pretty left or right. If it’s happening ALL the time then probably the shaft. But just ounce in a while it’s probably human error. No shame in aiming right for the gill plate.

This subject reminds me of rod and reel fishing where some think that custom rods make a fisherman better yet plenty of fishermen are doing great with Ugly Stiks. Same thing applies for spearfishing. Its the fisherman's skill not his gear that truly determines what he catches.

Re: Is it the gun or diver? Shot missed
Have you tried different shafts? Usually when a previously accurate gun becomes inaccurate the shaft (or flopper) is defective.
