Divers worst nightmare

Not sure if this was posted ever, but this sent shivers down my spine. I've had a few boats get close to me but thank God nothing close to this.

Re: Divers worst nightmare

Damn that takes me back to the day a buddy and I were off boomers/la jolla and made the mistake of dropping down at the same time. When we get to the bottom (40') we started hearing a boat engine and it only got louder during the dive. Well i ran out of breath as did my buddy so we came up not knowing where the boat was but firgured it was super close. As my head came out of the water the wake of the boat rushed over me. I turned around the the lifeguard boat passed me 6ft away at 15-20 knots.
That was my closest call on the water yet.

The main fault by us was no dive float, float line, or 1-up 1-down system.

It's also a good idea to surface with your gun extended upwards with an outstretched arm. Live and learn...or vice versa.

Re: Divers worst nightmare

Very sad, and shocking clip. we routinely have jetski's and small powerboats weave around our floats while diving inland lakes. they think it's hilarious.
