fort myers beach reefs
looking to go spearfishing off fort myers beach. have a boat but no gps. are there any reefs near that area that can be found without a gps. may reef, sanibel reef, gh reef? are any of these marked by bouys that can be found with only a compass? thanks in advanced for any replies

yes. seriously. we usually spear off bunche beach and the sanibel causeway
with kayaks, but a friend has a boat and would like to go to one of the artificial reefs near fort myers beach. i have all the gps coordinates but no gps. any ideas. anyone with a gps want to ride with us monday or tuesday. Last edited by bkbirr; 10-31-2009 at 06:37 AM. |

is that a question? or are you just gonna flame the guy for asking for info?
here's an idea, take 2 minutes to type out a decent answer and help a brother out. or does it make you feel better to belittle someone for trying something new? be nice or go home. i know ppl who dont use gps and go out H&L fishing and find the same holes every time they go out. if ur within a couple miles of shore, you can use the landmarks to help. its not as easy, but do-able. it might be better to look into buying a handheld gps off of e-bay or craigslist. makes things much safer and easier.

thanks. i bought a hand held gps yesterday online, but we are going out monday and or tuesday anyway and gps wont be here til a few days after. have directions to may reef (2.5nm at 227 degrees from big carlos pass) and was told it was marked with a buoy. can anyone confirm this?

mainly sheepshead and mangrove snapper. flounder every now and then. lots of red grouper but none of legal size this time of year. ive cought a few spanish mack on hook and line but have yet to see one while spearing
