Re: Need ideas!!

On our trip we went to one dive-specific resort (Dive Kadavu) and one resort that had a dive operation right next door. We booked the diving along with the accomodations through our travel agent, so I really can't tell you specifically how much the diving was. It was all boat diving at the locations we stayed at.

Depends on the resort. Most of the time you need to take a boat to the offshore reefs, however, there is decent diving within swimming distance in most places, although probably not too fishy. If you're not using tanks, you can take a local boat for a few bucks, dirt cheap. If you plan on using tanks, you will probably have to use a larger operation that will rent the tanks and take you out there which may be a bit more expensive. However, if you're staying at a dive related resort, they will probably have rentals either included or for decent prices.

Re: Need ideas!!

I just got back from Moorea. This island is literally filled with Honeymooners so take that how you will. There is no doubt that this place is one of the most beautiful places in the world above water but.........

The coral and reefs are 80% DEAD due to the crown of thorns starfish and Tahiti has just been named as the most polluted island in the South Pacific

oh ya and tourists are treated like tourists no matter how hard you try to be nice.

I second the Cook Islands or New Zealand.
How about Tonga anyone ever been there?
