Man I forgot how big that gray was! I know a secret place that we might be able to find some more like that, but we will be pulling the trigger at 80+feet every time. Its hard diving but I think we could find some record fish.

This weekend is still up in the air. I got the wood cut for ten new guns. Four are already gone. When do you want to go out with your guy down south.

It will make the state record easy, but is not even close to the world record. The world record will most likely stand for some years to come. I wish the state would have a catagory for freedivers so we dont have to compete with the scuba spearos. On fish like snapper the scuba shooters have a big advantage. Cesar next time you are in town we need to look at the video from nationals and see if you think it is useable. No gulf diving this weekend going to Canyon lake though to work on some deep diving. Me and John changed the format on the L3 videos I think you will like it a lot better.

Re: Spearfishing with South Texas Freedivers and L3 Outdoors "Snapper Action"
think the new world record will stand for ever! Seeing as though the all tackle rod and reel record is 17 or so and biologists had no idea that mangos could ever et 29 lbs until they id'd Bills.....The fish was sick.
Start your own coun cil to keep up with freediving records in Texas. If you want it it can be done. Thats how all the record keeping organizations started, someone wanted to keep up with them.

Thats a good idea. I will put the bug in Don Moores ear president of South Texas Freedivers. I think that we did DNA on a lot more snappers more records would be broken. The most common thing I hear on my boat is " I think it's a dog it's way to big to be a gray"

dogs and grays are easy...look for the blue spot under the eye on dogs. Greys are easily identified by the shape of the teeth on the roof of the mouth.

Bills record was considered a hybird between a mangrove and a cubera.I have to call bullshit but his record is listed as a hybird not a mangrove. The mangrove record still belongs to Mike Wade.
