Re: stiffest fin

Why the hell would you want a stiffer fin? You weigh like 100lbs. I have some carbons you could try.

Re: stiffest fin

If you like the Cressi footpocket already - go with Cressi HF2000 fins. The HF stands for HARD FIN - Indestructible and STIFF! Alot of "bang for the buck." But I'd have to say if you weigh less than 150 I'd stay away from them. It'll be like flailing boards on your feet!

You can't go wrong with the right Riffe fins or blades though -

See here: Some decent thermoplastic fins by Riffe - http://www.speargun.com/index.php?op...d=34&Itemid=26

Re: stiffest fin

Riffe doesnt make a fiberglass blade. The two stiffest blades at the dive shop I work at are the Nemo #4 and cressi gara 2000's

Re: stiffest fin

I suggest you study up on finning. Manual of Freediving is a good start. Then try many different fins before you buy. The idea of stiff fins being the best has come down through time from when the materials available and the techniques taught demanded stiffness. However times have changed and the materials available have been revolutionised. it is worth having a look at what fins are most economical energy and oxygen-wise.

Here is a concept that was brought up at a recent bi-fins workshop by freediver/spearfisher Ant Judge: https://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk...27155840631523

Ant made me a set of fins designed for my body weight and strength. They are the best fins I have tried. You can see in the video the way the fins develop the "free energy" by being stiffer at the feet but more flexible through the middle and to the ends. In the video watch the ends of the fins flick. Also note how streamlined the stroke is.
https://www.facebook.com/video/video...=1935649424892

This may not be of major interest to you, depending on where you are at. But it is worth looking at. The important thing is to try many different fins, and even try different finning techniques.

Cheers
Judge
