I have a mako. Works without problems. I think it is a bit overkill, the diameter of the line, the tuna clips ect. 75' of it almost fills my bag on travels and is considerably heavy. I ve made one myself from smaller diameter tube that also works geat, its easy enough to make.
Lately i have come to prefer simple PP floatline as the rob allen as i use them in open water. In the california kelp the slick tube style seems to be the most suitable

This is the cheapest you will find.

10 bucks for 100 foot. Home Depot sells it near the chain and cable. 344lb working load, so breaking strength is probably in the 450-500 range. I doubt much more than that will be needed except for maybe bluefin and marlin.

This is my piece for in between two floats. I made loops by sewing the line to itself using 65lb power pro. I overdid it by a LOT just to be safe, Then heat shrink on top...
