Vis will be pretty bad like 2 feet as the wind gets pretty bad there plus the water will be really warm. So lots of algae in the water. Walleye and small mouth bass are plentiful but there is very strict laws regarding size. There is also some catfish, drum, suckers, northern pike, tiger musky, white bass, striper/whiper bass, and of course common carp.

Watch out for all the jet ski activity as well.

Personally I decided to pass on this tournament as the time of year its being held is pretty poor conditions plus its also opening day of Colorado Archery Big game season.

Good luck.

Re: Freshwater Nationals

Normally I would agree but the last 2 years we've had amazing viz in August, last years tournament in aug had 10-15' as where our June tournament (normally better viz) was 1-2'
I talked to the lake superintendent and said to expect similar conditions and levels as last year. Sure we have wind sometimes but you just gotta find the fish out of the wind.

Re: Freshwater Nationals

Big Mac
Is one of my favorite lakes
The conditions do vary as with any lake , but when the wind is low and the water is clear, it has more fish and species then almost any lake you can dive.
Diving is easy lots of nice slopes. Fish can be thick.
We dove a species meet there once and it blew me away how many different species are there.
Camping is also cool as the north side of the lake is all sandy beach like Hawaii, so cool.
THIS IS NOT AN EVENT TO MISS
ITS A US NATIONAL FRESHWATER EVENT
AND THE TOP DIVERS WILL GAIN POINTS TO DIVE WORLDS IN NEW ZEALAND IN 2019

This is a great site to check out for everything lake Mac!!! Kingsley lodge, Northshore lodge, Otter creek lodge all have cabin rentals, also I heard airbnb had quite a few places to choose from. I'll have a vis report next week, our opener is Saturday the 1st
