Re: Ulusub 17Ocm Teak Carbon Hybrid
Jon, I am still interested in a bluewater gun.
Question; Would you say that Hybrids are heavier on the nose than the wood guns? Thanks. |

Re: Ulusub 17Ocm Teak Carbon Hybrid
A couple of questions first. Is the "Teflon" track a special home made mix or is it a pre-made rod that is glued in? Also could you go into a little more detail about the teak+carbon composite ... is it a wrap around the barrel or is it laminated in between the teak strips. One last thing, could you elaborate a little more about the "bomb proof" composite handle. Thanks in advance.

Re: Ulusub 17Ocm Teak Carbon Hybrid
Hi, here's a few pics. This is a 17Ocm Gun. Includes 4 x 16mm bands, 8mm shaft, Ulusub 1OO Reel, Gun Bag, 8mm Slip Tip.
Guns are balanced. Our Teflon Tracks are cut to fit a Dovetail Groove. There are two Carbon fiber laminated stringers that run through the Muzzle. Our handles. I have not actually tested them to be bombproof, but they are real strong. I think you could run one over with a Car or Motorbike atleast. They are a heavy duty. Another nice thing about the handles is that they are recessed quite deeply into the wood. This allows any shock of shooting to be absorbed by the handle frame. I have one in Oil finish, pictured and one with Epoxy finish. Thanks, Jon

Re: Ulusub 17Ocm Teak Carbon Hybrid
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Jon!
That oil finished 170cm is absolutely gorgeous! It has me reconsidering the finish of my future 170cm Ulusub Hybrid Wahoo Sticker... And those must be the most indestructible composite handles I have seen to date. Any chance of a 125m-130m Ulusub reel in the works? BTW - All that snow in the background must be another reason for you to live in Indonesia!

Jon the 170 is a great looking gun that is a quality build. I'm sure someone is going to be very happy in owning that monster. BTW thanks for the advice on the Carbon Fiber glad we talked on that one. Have a very "merry" christmas.

Guns look great, where's my custom roller gun? It's fun giving someone grief when I owe a bunch of good friends guns. No rush. Doesn't matter to me if it takes another year.
Merry Christmas Jon, hope all is well with you and your family. Chad |

Thanks for the information. I always wondered if adding carbon fiber to the laminates adds strength, my worry was that it would somehow reduce laminate strength bonds if used between the teak pieces and that is why in my plans to do a teak+carbon gun, I had planned to wrap it around the teak rather than embedded. Would be interesting to see physical tests of how much strength and stiffness is added when compared to vanilla teak laminates. I know that it takes only a little bit of carbon to add tremendous strength to RC airplane wings, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a lot of improved performance. As for the grips, I am guessing it is some composite with fibers in it. I like the black color as that is the color that is most resistant to UV light. Again beautifully crafted guns and it is nice that you always have really good quality pictures to compliment the guns. |

Jon
I love the style of the guns, clean smooth and solid. They are too damn pretty to be banging around the bottom of my boat. A gun like that should be displayed on the wall above the mantle! Really nice work. I am going to your website now to look some more |
