Building A classic mini Roller

guys I need your help for small project in my mind

I need a small roller for low visibility ,I have a carbon tube 3 mm thick ,the muzzle from salvimar in picture fit 26mm tube and the handle will be voodoo , the questions are ,does the handle fit 26 mm tube as well the muzzle ? also the muzzle came with O ring or I have to buy it separately ?last , does the area where the rubber will be anchored to the handle need to be reinforce or no ?its carbon tube and not aluminum , gun body length can be a 40 cm .

Re: Building A classic mini Roller

I can only say one thing.... GO PNEUMATIC! Those who use them state that is the solution to pack a lot of punch in a short gun. And it seems to be generaly true.

Regarding your particular question, I have no idea. If they are bigger, you can always chuck it in a lathe and turn to size. If they are too small, you can always make a sleeve.

I would suggest you ditch the oring setup in favour of solid rubber plugs on each end. I feel they are much more reliable and allow you to McGguiver the attachment of muzzle and handle to tube while forgetting about keeping the o-rings intact.

Best of luck!

Re: Building A classic mini Roller

The problem with using that oring setup to prevent water ingress is the location of said oring.

For the muzzle not so much of a problem, but for the handle, considering it relies on the same system, might locate the sealing element too close to the handle... not allowing you to drill the barrel further up front to attach a reel wherever you might want it.

Go with solid rubber plugs so you can place them exactly where you want them! Keep the orings if you want as well.

Re: Building A classic mini Roller

I'm about to build a roller gun soon for a friend, so I'm interested too on band stretch % recommendations. From the little I've seen on it, seems people go between 330% and 380%, depending on the band diameter and shaft it's pushing.
The gun I'll be building is a 110cm with a 7mm shaft and 14mm bands, so I'm thinking of going with 330% for now (it's for a young boy, so I'm trying to be mindful of the power).

With such a short barrel length, I'm guessing the gun will probably sink? I'm normally more comfortable using plugs, with sealant to keep the water out.

Cool project though. I'm pondering about making myself a short roller gun for holes and fish that love sitting in front of rocks.
