I just read an old article from HSD about a guy who speared a 99lb yellowtail off the coast of New Zealand. That would have smashed the current world record.

Wow.

Wow.
Dont forget NZ yellows are in a different class than ours in the ranking system. I think Rene Rojas still holds that at 101lbs

Up here the record is 87lbs. Dont see fish like that every day.

One day i'd like to go to NZ and spear a huge YT and then put an arrow in a big Red Stag on the same trip. Adding to Bucket list

What do you mean different class? As in they're a different species?

No, just in the ranking system(at least IUSA) there are different classes of YT. Southern YT, Northern YT, and the South Atlantic/African categories. I couldn't tell you why. I kind of equate it to the difference between Blacktail and Mule dear. Pretty much the same just one is always way bigger. I'm sure someone else here knows way more about it than me.

Danny we gotta see that pic that sounds awesome!

I could have sworn it was like 120lbs-but he obviously didn't submit it.

Re: 50.75lb Yellowtail. New PB.

They say they are somewhat different. I know the tail is a little bigger on our local Yellow tails than the new Zealand ones.

Nice solid Fish Tanc!!! You will never forget this one!! Happy for you!!

This is a very big fish for Mexico Standards and for here it would be a Lifetime fish, the Fathomier's all time record in California still is 59.8 lbs by Dr Glass.

That aint a fish, that's a bloody whale. Look at the head on that second pic.

On another note, that house and yard in the background really makes me miss home. I can hear the birds a' chirpin'.
