Re: Ermessub Double Roller Trigger Test

The Sigalsub is not an identical design to the Ermessub roller trigger ... although the Sigalsub does copy the Ermessub conventional reverse trigger design. Actually most reverse triggers are copying the main concept of the original Ermessub reverse trigger. However the insides of this trigger are totally different. The Sigalsub trigger is just a simple conventional friction trigger, and actually the 2 scratched sears I put in the video were taken out from this exact same trigger that was on my Sigalsub 110 speargun after about 30 shots with 2 bands. I have to polish that trigger after about 20 or 30 shots otherwise trigger pull becomes erratic and accuracy suffers.

The internals of the Ermessub trigger uses a patented back free floating roller to engage sear to shaft ... it is the only trigger in the world that has that. It then employs a conventional roller sear at the front shaft sear and trigger sear engagement ... thus the double roller naming. Externally the trigger does look similar to a normal reverse trigger, but you can immediately tell a trigger has the floating roller by the side linear notches that allow the back roller to "float".

Re: Ermessub Double Roller Trigger Test

I finally got around to testing the mechs I have here with American Shaft Sear and they don't fit at all. Is it possible to get a different diameter Roller for the Sear? I would only need to change the Shaft Sear right?

Not sure what you mean here...I am holding one of each here in my hand and the new Ermes Sub seems just as stout or slightly more than the Neptonics reverse.

If you are still not convinced and you want to make a gun that uses say ... 6 bands or more ... you could run a SS bolt rather than a screw on the back trigger hole and have on the bottom of your stock a recess and then add a washer and a nylon tensioned SS nut on bottom. You would then have the bolt go through and connect to the SS nut. The washer has about a 12mm or 14mm cross section ... so it would be extremely secure against an uplift force.
Mario has angled the rear of the housing on this mech beautifully so handle/grip sits just as high as it does with the Abellan mech.

The rear fastening hole sits a little further back than Abellan mech, on my builds just behind the handle base, and I've put in a stainless thread anchor to ensure no ripout or rot in that critical part of the wood stock. Would take a helluva load to dislodge the mech.
If you want more bulletproof than that, could anchor bottom end of thread on the outside of the steel plate the handle fixes to.

The shaft engagement is so smooth on this dbl roller mech I keep jiggling it around, thinking its not engaged

Re: Ermessub Double Roller Trigger Test

Can anyone advise what router bit would cut the correct pocket for this? According to the measurements on the website, a 1/2" bit probably wouldn't work...?

Re: Ermessub Double Roller Trigger Test

Dr.P, I never found a 1/2" Bit to work perfectly with any mechs.. And every Reverse Mech I've tried isn't flush anyways. I would start with a 1/2" and then depending on how much routing you want to do.. you could corner edge with a 1/4" and widen a c#%t hair on either side, but in the end it's easy enough with a sharp chisel and a sharp edged sanding form ie a piece of metal etc with some sand paper glued on. You know the old saying.. "No good ever came from a super Tight Mech pocket"
