Epic day out of Panama City
Went spearing out of Panama City this past weekend and had the single best day of diving and spearing i have experienced in 10+ years of diving. Set PR’s in Gag (25.3 lbs) Red Grouper (20.85 lbs) and Hogfish (23.5 lbs)!! When we got back to the dock I weighed my Hogfish on an IGFA certified scale, turns out it was exactly 1 pound shy of the Federal USA record. We had unbelievable seas, viz and fish all day Saturday. Just wanted to share the trip with everyone.

Re: Epic day out of Panama City
Nice fish all but FYI that hog record is freedive only I believe you'll find. That is by far the biggest I've heard of in the northern GOM.

Re: Epic day out of Panama City
Not sure, the IGFA website just lists the record for federal waters as 24 lbs 5oz. I couldn’t find any kind of qualifiers or designations about how it was taken.

Re: Epic day out of Panama City
Awesome day of diving, for sure!
Curious what type of structure the gags came from? Ledges vs live bottom vs wrecks. |
