Shrewsbury Rocks Help
I was wondering what are the best conditions to go spearing on the rocks, wind, tide, time of day ect...?
I often fish there with H&L but never got in the water so I don't know much about diving there. Plus its a far ride by boat from Manasquaun so I dont want to waste a trip if the vis is going to suck. |

Re: Shrewsbury Rocks Help
Its really hard to predict the vis on the shrewsbury or tak rocks. If there is big swell from am offshore storm it will guarrentee bad bottom vis. End of the flood tide is usually better than the low and stay away from the full moon tides. Sometimes you just gotta throw the hook down on the spot and deal with the murk. In June you can expect a thremocline and nice vis on the bottom ten feet unless there is swell. After June we will get 1-5 days with 25-40 feet of vis usually after light E-SE winds for a week without swell. You just gotta be out there everyday and dont rely on reports, good vis doesnt last long out there. It will go from 30 to 0 in a heartbeat.

Re: Shrewsbury Rocks Help
kill em all- Thanks alot! I guess its pretty similar to all other NJ spots, hit or miss. I just wasnt sure since its a more exposed than even rocks off Deal or Longbranch.

Re: Shrewsbury Rocks Help
Well we're going to have to wait at least until the bass come around. Tog season doesn't open until summer so we've got an even longer wait for them.
