Re: Above the Law
Poaching during mini-season, when FWC is out in full force with county cops in full support, is beyond stupid. $100 per count used to be the fine back in the dark ages when I hunted them hard. So that would be at least $2800 + forfeiture of the boat and gear + lawyer's fees to try and keep them out of jail, + usually a good chance of loss of fishing & hunting privileges for "a while" if not lifetime.
BTW there used to be a way to rack up multiple counts on a bug. An out of season or over limit bug that was also short with eggs and a hole was a $400 bug. I haven't tracked the law changes closely since Katrina hit causing my hunting opportunities to drop sharply, but it probably hasn't gotten any less painful. Does anybody have the new maximums?
